Recruit, The (2003)

IMDB rating: 6.50

Plot: In an era when the country’s first line of defense, intelligence, is more important than ever, this story opens the CIA’s infamous closed doors and gives an insider’s view into the Agency: how trainees are recruited, how they are prepared for the spy game, and what they learn to survive. James Clayton might not have the attitude of a typical recruit, but he is one of the smartest graduating seniors in the country – and he’s just the person that Walter Burke wants in the Agency. James regards the CIA’s mission as an intriguing alternative to an ordinary life, but before he becomes an Ops Officer, James has to survive the Agency’s secret training ground, where green recruits are molded into seasoned veterans. As Burke teaches him the ropes and the rules of the game, James quickly rises through the ranks and falls for Layla, one of his fellow recruits. But just when James starts to question his role and his cat-and-mouse relationship with his mentor, Burke taps him for a special assignment to root out a mole. As the suspense builds toward a gripping climax, it soon becomes clear that the CIA’s old maxims are true: “trust no one” and “nothing is what it seems.”

TNA Still Pushing HARD To Get Jim Ross?
According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Eric Bischoff continues to court Jim Ross as an announcer in TNA. Ross’ short-term contract extension with WWE is set to expire in Mid-March.

TNA pushed hard to recruit the WWE hall of famer for Impact’s three-hour live show on 1/4.

what would be your thoughts if JR go’s to TNA?

That would be cool, he’s a great commentator!
David Shabazz | Feb 04, 2010

That would be a loss for WWE. The RAW commentators (Cole and lawler) are awful together. It leads me to believe that JR carried Lawler all those years they commentated together.

So, WWE’s loss is a HUGE gain for TNA if JR is signed on.
acidBURN | Feb 04, 2010

I can’t picture Ross doing that. He has devoted his career to the WWE, and is well loved by the fans. When you mention the phrase, "WWE announcer," is he not the first one you think of? I think he would rather retire then turn his back on WWE.
Jerry94 | Feb 04, 2010

I would seriously doubt he would EVER go to TNA he has dedicated his whole life and career for the WWE and that would be a huge loss for the WWE! I think he should stay in the WWE and maybe go back to Raw with Laywler, now that would be great!
TheAmazingAdam | Feb 04, 2010

Vince McMahon won’t allow it to happen. JR will continue to work behind the scenes for WWE if he isn’t cleared for travel and TV.
Ironman in the bedroom | Feb 04, 2010

Well, if he does go to TNA that means Mike Tenay would loose his job as a commentator. I think Jim Ross should stay with WWE. Besides TNA only has one show IMPACT!, and thers’s only two commentators could fill in.
Jarome | Feb 04, 2010

JR is the best commentator ever. i dont think he would be leaving wwe

Scooby Doo Meets Batman
Scooby Doo Meets Batman (1972)

IMDB rating: 7.00

Plot: Holy jinkies, Batman, just when it seemed superheroes couldn’t get any groovier, you collide with the Mystery Machine gang. Such a pairing might normally yield one wacky crime-fighting power struggle, but in these two capers egos take a back seat to classic you-check-this-out, we’ll-check-that Scooby-Doo splintering. First, bat-plagued pranksters Penguin and the Joker kidnap a hopelessly tongue-tied professor in a scheme to swindle a high-tech flying suit. Then the conniving criminals return as bit players in a counterfeiting ring run out of a way-wacky funhouse. Soar along in the Batmobile or make like a banana and split with Shaggy and Scoob at these crime scenes—either way, it’s a secret-passageway and scary-mask-packed combo even more compelling than the cookies-and-batmilk Scooby snack the pesky kids tuck into during a break in the action.

Actors: FamilyHorror,Animation,Mystery,Adventure,

Who remembers Scooby-Doo cartoons?
Who watched old school Scooby-Doo? It dawned on me that they never went to jail for the stuff they did. And the sheriff never did really do anything. Here is my point.

1. They always had to break in somebodies house to look around.

2. They broke into a museum or a military base. Even if its closed its still goverment property.

3. The sheriff never read them their rights. The crooks.

4. They always took a shortcut. When you know you never take a shortcut.

5. They never have enough gas to get where there are going.

6. If they met Batman and Robin, why couldn’t they meet Superman? They could have helped him trap Lex Luthor.

7.Why couldnt Shaggy just stay out of the $h!t they got into?Being his dad is a cop an everything.

8. Even in some cartoons they chaged their clothes. 40 plus years in those same funky @$$ $h!t.

9. Why couldn’t Fred just get a new car like everybody else does?

10. I really think that Shaggy and Scoob tried some srooms and still are high.
Its always @ nite when the crew has to get gas or water for the Mystery Machine. And that when trouble starts. "I would have gotten away with it. If it hadden been for those medling kids and that dog."

1. They were under age.

2. They were as tolerant personal could be, for one thing they were just kids.

3. We just never saw that. Technically Miranda rights have to be read before questioning.

4. Heck, they had their Mystery Machine in Venice, Italy once. VENICE! There are no roads!

5. Perhaps it was one of those hippie environmentally friendly vehicles.

6. Good question.

7. He’s a hippie.

8. They’re hippies and young and on the road the entire time. So they conserved room and probably didn’t mind having the same clothes all the time. Where would they get new clothes anyway?

9. I don’t know if it was really his. In the shows featuring Scrappy, Scooby and Shaggie only they had the Mystery Machine. It may have been Shaggie’s. It seems to fit him more than any of the others anyway.

10. Why do you think they had to eat all the time, although as kids we thought it was just funny.

You sound bitter. Did they foil one of your schemes? lol
Here’s something you can nab them with:
*Whispers*: Scooby never got his shots
BBH | Sep 19, 2007

Hey, I LOVE Scooby and the gang. Why are you trying to get them in trouble with the Feds…

You do know that BIG BOTHER monitors this site, right. (lol).

By the way, there are some great new generation Scooby-Doo episodes out there… Just in case your hungry for more good-old-fashioned FUN!

Kiki | Sep 19, 2007

i loved the old cartoons of Scooby and i still do, but yes they never seemed to change their clothes.. or their hairstyles….lol
poet | Sep 19, 2007

I watched them and you are putting way to much thought into this question. This is a cartoon for kids. Reality can be optional for cartoons. They are entertainment. If you don’t like it don’t watch it. I like to watch cartoons to escape from reality and have a good laugh. If you are worried about the influence it has on kids, that’s where parenting comes in.
Steve S | Sep 19, 2007

You are right. Also, I am betting:
Fred was gay (what straight man wears a dickey)
Daphne was a spoiled brat
Velma has to be a lesbian
Shaggy was a pot head
Scooby was the brains
and Scrappy, if Scooby is his uncle, who are Scrappy’s parents? I hated him, he was a speed bump just waiting to happen.
hotshot70_1 | Sep 19, 2007

gosh o_O..just don’t watch it if you have problems with that, there’s lot of lameness in that show and it’s not the most intelligent show ever either, but hey it’s still nice and small kids enjoy it (and me sometimes ^_^), if you’re so smart go read some book better or something…if you’re such a smartass..scoob and shag rocks ! ^_^
MortieTheDoomed | Sep 19, 2007

i watched it.. and like it…
ya… the criminals always use the phrase "i would have……….."
i guess, when v heard that phrase,v will remember scooby doo…
so that y they never change that…
and about them they tresspassing, i guess they sherif just ignore that considering that they help him a lot.. (he don’t have to solve the case)

What hardship was on Wilberforce's life?
I am comparing Wilberforce and Cinque, from the Amistad, and I need to try and see how Wilberforce’s life experiences helped influence him on his abolishment of slavery. According to my history teacher, both men had life experiences that influenced them, but I don’t know of any hardship against Wilber..
Thank you for your help

- Few institutions have embodied African-American history as completely as Wilberforce University. Established before the Civil War, the nation’s oldest private Black college was a powerful focal point in the struggle for equality and served as a destination point on the Ohio Underground Railroad. Closed briefly during the Civil War, officials with the African Methodist Episcopal church brought Wilberforce back to life in 1863, purchasing it from the predominantly White Methodist Episcopal Church. That purchase made Wilberforce the first Black college to be owned and operated by African-Americans. Some years after its revival, Wilberforce would spin off two additional Black academic institutions, Central State University and Payne Theological Seminary.

Wilberforce has played host to some of the most famous and influential African-Americans of the 19th and 20th centuries. Dr. W.E.B. DuBois, the pre-eminent Black scholar and co-founder of the NAACP, taught there for two years. The poet Paul Laurence Dunbar, who spent much of his life living in nearby Dayton, often performed his poetry readings at the small, rural campus. Other notables, including Leontyne Price and Dr. William Julius Wilson, earned their undergraduate degrees at Wilberforce.

Celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, Wilberforce continues to showcase the viability and promise of the small private, historically Black college. The sesquicentennial anniversary comes at a rime of uncertainty and financial hardship for many small Black institutions. Wilberforce itself only recently overcame arguably its largest financial crisis since the Civil War.

In 2002, the university was facing a $5 million debt, despite an $18 million annual operating budget. That year, Wilberforce installed former U.S. congressman and alum the Rev. Dr. Floyd Flake as its 19th president. Flake immediately began to make a difference, and the institution has since found its bearings under his leadership. Wilberforce’s financial turnaround has sparked a new sense of optimism about the future of the university.

Family member is becoming too irritating?
So basically one of my cousins moved in with us about 3 months back. The first month was alright, until she constantly started trying to be the bully of the house and get the word out to everyone that she was in charge, when she’s not. I am a nice person but i don’t let people get me down, i will help anyone as long as their true. Anyways its not my house to say anything, its my grandfathers house but if i have to say something i will but at the same time i don’t want to! It will be so cruel of me knowing she has no where to live but like i said i refuse to let anyone try and bring me down thinking they have a higher authority. The other day she was constantly talking so much about me, i was the mature one and smiled and joked about her and everyone else in the living room. She doesn’t know when enough is enough and like i keep repeating i’m tired of it. My anger, when released on people, results in me being the bad guy. Today i was so pumped that i actually broke a $200 phone i recently bought because of her. I had to even run around my neighborhood to refrain from any confrontation..Any advice on how to solve this?
